Company News Synchrony Provides System Integration and Controls for Material Handling System Metalsa Roanoke fabricates frame rails for truck manufacturers such as Volvo, Mack, Freightliner, and Thomas Built. Each rail is custom made according to customer specifications electronically transmitted to Metalsa's computer systems. When Metalsa decided to build a second plant, they selected Synchrony to provide system integration services and to develop controls for the material handling system. The material handling control system is responsible for moving and tracking the unfinished rails between Metalsa's highly automated manufacturing cells. The control system also communicates rail locations and movements to Metalsa's Cimitar MES system. Synchrony Automates New Process Line Azdel, Inc. manufactures composite sheets for headliners in the automotive industry using a process similar to that of a paper mill. Due to expanding markets, the company needed additional capacity to meet its growing demand. Azdel, Inc. added manufacturing space and purchased a new process line. Synchrony Industrial Controls was selected to provide control panel design and manufacture; integrate the process control system and the HMI operator interface into the new production line; and implement a new SPC system.
